Muir Woods

8
We went to Muir Woods on our visit to San Francisco. Just a couple days after Christmas.

Read full post with beautiful pictures here!

Its across the bridge to the North.

Tip 1. Go on a day that's not Foggy, so do not go in August. Or in my case, on one random day in December. It was clear EVERY other day we were in San Francisco. But we choose the 1 very foggy day to most of our major sight seeing. And therefore couldn't see much. As you can see we couldn't even see the Golden Gate bridge on this day. and we drove on it.

Most of these views should have valleys filled with towns. But they were covered in fog.

3
Eucalyptus. Anthony's favorite invasive species.

The Redwoods.

They have several different treks, with different levels of difficulty and lengths of time. We took an easy one that took about an hour to walk.

We got there at about 9 am, and seemed to beat the rush by about an hour. When we left the parking lot was completely full of tour buses, school buses, etc. And the park was very full on our way out, compared to being empty on our way in.

I would suggest taking a wide angle, so you can fit the whole tree length in your shots. Unlike me who did not even consider that they were so tall and used my 50mm.

The gift shop had little redwoods for sale, too bad they would not survive in cold temperate Indiana.

There are a bunch of other places to see in Marin County, Stinson Beach, Sausalito, the views of San Francisco from the headlands. And they're a very interesting drive, on curves and hills that wind around and around.

Stinson Beach.

This was the last time I spent so much time outdoors, can't wait till it warms up some more and I get some more time to do so at home.
